First day at work

It's one week ago that I have started working again after 7months.
And well I must say it's complicated.
Early mornings late back at home.Bring my daughter to the daycare.
A whole day long without my baby girl.
It's so different to go back to work again.
New colleagues, grumpy costumers. Well I can spent my time different.

I'm lucky to have nice colleagues. And the rest will come.
I must get used to it and it takes some time.
I work 32 hours a week.
"How many?"Yes 32 hours. I know what you're thinking it's a lot. But I love to work and if I can't handle it I can always switch back to less hours.

But that does not mean that I don't miss my baby girl.
I miss her a lot, but getting back home is so much more fun now. When you see her and she smiles at you, just so cute!

Because I am breastfeeding, I have a right to have some time for some  pumping.
I was nervous first. Because at home when I pump some it goes easly, but my baby girl was near me.
Now I was at work in a kitchen where you can sit private.
But I have read that with some "baby porn" (pictures and films of your baby) it would work.
And well let me say it works perfect!

I have some storage at home for daycare and for her grandparents.

I've only called the daycare 2 times. I was proud of myself.
And I've heard that she is such a cheerfull girl. She laughs all the time and plays a lot.

Tomorrow another day at work, a new day a new start.

Beetroot stamp

It's getting colder. Summer is really over now.
So it's time for different stamps.
Stamps are made of mashed potato and it's a Holland kind of thing.
Specially kale stamp. Hmm I love it.
Now it's time to make beetroot stamp.

What you need:

1 ½ kg floury potatoes
50g butter
300g smoked bacon
1 onion
500g cooked beetroot
1 apple

Peel the potatoes and cut into equal pieces. Boil in salted water for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat 25g butter in a frying pan and fry the bacon for 6 min. till they are crispy. Cut the onion into half rings. Add the onion to the bacon and bake for 1 min.
Peel the beetroot and cut into cubes. Add the beets and bake for  4 minutes.
Remove the core from the apple and cut the apple into pieces.
Add them to the beet mixture.
Drain the potatoes and catch some cooking liquid. Mash the potatoes with the remaining butter and the broth with potato masher until you've got a smooth puree.
Add the beet mixture to it and mash it up again.
Season it with some salt and pepper if you want.

This is a gluten free, dutch dish.

Stirr regulary. Remove after 30 minutes, the cinnamon sticks.

Let the cherries drain, but collect 4 tbsp moisture. Do this liquid with the cherries in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and add the jelly sugar to it.

First day to daycare

My baby girl went to daycare for the first time.
Me and my hubby drop her off together.
After 3months being 24/7 with my baby girl it's now time to go back to work and let my baby girl go.

She went only for a morning just to try out before I really must go to work.
It was pretty different getting her ready on time. Bath her, breastfeed her, we must shower ourself, breakfast, drinking coffee walk with the dogs and pack her stuff.
Damn I've needed more time! But glad I did not have to go to work.
Now I know I must probably getting out of bed an half an hour early. Yikes! And I'm not that morning kind of person!

When we've got there my hubby had to look around (I was there with the intake but he had to go to work) a lot of kids where playing. Our baby girl was the youngest!
We've placed her stuff into her own basket. The "nanny" (I'll call her nanny) asked our questions when she ate for the last time etc. I've also wrote everything in her own little book.
And then it was time to say goodbye.
It was hard really hard, but I did not cry! I just don't want to do that for our baby girl. And a little bit for myself also.

Back home my hubby and I drink some coffee and he's going back to his work.
I had a morning free. I went with my dog Baco to the petstore because it was his birthday. 3years allready, big boy!
vacuumed, mopped, bathroom cleaned, did the dishes. Pomped some more milk and it was time again to get our baby girl!
I was so glad I saw her and that they told me everything went fine! She ate, played and slept a little.
A boy asked her to marry her.
But I was happy to see her smile on her face when I hold her!
I'm glad she is now here with me.
But tomorrow I must go to work a whole day! I'm not looking forward to it but it must. And yes I will miss her a lot, but the more fun it would be to getting home from work to hold and cuddle her!

How did your first day at the daycare go?

Whole wheat pancake muffins

I love pancakes but I can't eat a lot of them.
So I've got an idea to make them so you can save them ;).

I've made muffins out of these pancakes. And it's pretty easy to make them and you can serve them with different toppings.
I've used banana's, cocoa nibs and cinnamon.

To make the pancake mixture:

Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups + 2 tbsp fat free milk
2 tsp vanilla

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add ingredients to the mixing bowl Act and mix well with a spoon until there are no more dry spots; do not over-mix.

Preheat the oven on 180 degrees.
Use a muffin tin to add the mixture in it.

I've used cooking spray first so you can remove the pancake muffins easy.
When you have add the mixture you can put the toppings you like on top.
Put them in the oven for about 30minutes.

Here you go: pancake muffins! You can save them in a sealed plastic tray.
This way you can bring them easy to your work, school or a day out!

Breastfeeding week.

This last week was the week to stand still off breastfeeding.
And well let me say right away I breasfeed my babygirl!!!
I am a real supporter of breastfeeding.
And now I want to share my story why I breastfeed, how it started, the struggles.

Breastfeeding is the best nutrition for your baby. Breast milk contains exactly the nutrients your child needs and also protects against diseases and infections. Also, breastfeeding have benefits for the mother. For example, breast-feeding makes it easier to get back to your normal weight.
A baby has the most benefit when they get at least 6 months of breastfeeding, but  every week counts.
So it's a reason to try it and every day or every drop of breastfeeding your baby gets counts. But I will tell you more about this in another blog soon.

Your baby also get's to know more different flavours so they will used more easly to solid food.

If your baby has a sore eye, you only need 1drup of breast milk in her eye and it will go away!

I think it's a beautifull thing of mother nature that your own body can make the food for your baby.
So boobies are not only a sex object ;) they are food sources for your child. That's why I think it's stupid that mothers can't place pictures of her with her child while breastfeeding, but social media accept woman half naked and that's ok?! Don't get it...
And wen you breastfeed in public how people can react? So stupid sometimes, it's just such beautifull thing of nature.

My story of breastfeeding is a little short.... Because I was to damn lucky how it started and goes. And I've got great support in the hospital.
I've made milk right away that was my luck. I was so happy!
But it was a struggle to let my baby girl drink from my breast. She did not know how it worked and when she finally got it she fell a sleep. We must tickle her in her neck undet her feet to get her drinking.
Because she was 4weeks to early she also got formula milk through fingerfeeding.
In one day she loosed to many weight so she gets more through fingerfeeding from 15cc to 25cc to 30cc. But you she spit everything out. If she kept on doing that they would place her to the child care. So first she must drink from my breast after that she got filled up with formula milk or expressed milk. I had to keep pumping to keep everything in motion.
After 3days she started to eat normal and only from my breast! Even till 100cc!!!
After 4days laying in the hospital we finally can go back to our home.
We had a huge sweet maternity nurse.
She helpt me during breastfeeding and everything went great. I'm still thankfull for her help!!! We had a laugh when my boobs are so big because of the trim. My nursing bra did not fit anymore. So we stuck the breast pads with skin tape on my breasts!

Now 3months later I still breastfeed my baby girl!
I know lot of struggles specially at night. Sometimes she wants to drink every hour.
I am often exhausted but it's all worth it.
After 2weeks I had a breast infection with a high fever. But it did not stop me off breastfeeding.
But I can not complain some woman can not breastfeed their baby. Or they have a lot of pain doing it. I'm lucky I don't have those problems.

Breastfeed my baby girl is a special moment of our both. I enjoy and love to do that! It's our bonding time.
And she grows 200 to 300grams per week off it!
From the clinic I can not quit because she grow so well!

My goal is to breastfeed my baby girl at least till she is 6months old!
I hope my body and mind can handle it till at least 6months. And I hope longer!!!

Do you breastfeed?

shoplog

Yesterday I went shopping with my good friend the neighbour and our kids.
She needed some socks for her 1 year old daughter and I needed some sleeping bags for my baby girl.
But you can gues I came home with more things then I would in the first place.

First we went to the Hema. They've got cheap and nice looking baby clothes and stuff!

These socks are to cute! The little bird on top makes noice when she move her feet. She love them. Everytime she move her feet or kick her legs she smile because of the noice they make.

Neon anti slip socks. I know she can't walk but they've got tiny feet underneeth and I love the color!

onesies with spaghetti straps! They are so easy for underneeth her clothes.
Onesies short sleeves. Her old ones are to small so she need new ones in bigger sizes.

pink with stars sleeping bag.

White sleeping bag.

So after the Hema we went to the H&M. I could not find something nice for my daughter but I bought a shirt for myself. Size 170! a childsize, can you believe it?

Then we went to the Kruidvat. I've bought some diapers and changing mats.
