Why I quit moddeling

Some may know and some don't I did modelwork for a long time. Since 2013 I quit with it but I did not really explained why.

I started model work because I feeled insecure I did not feel pretty or beautiful. When I did one shoot I've got so much compliments that I've kept going.
After a while I started to enjoy modelling, but I still feel insecure.

I work fulltime and when I was free I did photoshoots. Just for fun. But it was to much. 38hours work and after that some photoshoots. I could not see my friends a lot and that's not what I want!
Also not every shoot I get paid for it. So I spend a lot of money for traveling and for someone who does not have that a lot of money is not that great. And the clothes... Damn a lot of times I could not do a shoot of to little clothing outfits! I was glad that I worked a couple of times with other models so I could borrow theirs. But that's not all the time. I was not a fashionmodel so it was hard to find a stylist for moi.
Don't get me wrong I had a fun time shooting with lot of photographers worked with such a nice make up artists or other models but this modelling world it's not my thing.
Even when I had publications for: FHM, Vriendin, playing a little part in the serie Walhalla with Johnny de Mol! 2years in a row I was one of the 500 most beautifull woman in Netherlands. I still feel insecure so I've decided that 2013 would be my last year of modelling! I wanted to quit more early but everytime I thought it would get better. But it just don't.

How many times that I've heard that I'm to small (yes I know that), to fat (you've read that right) or to musceled (I love to work out instead of starving myself). It's not feeling right. I see other beautifull models and the only thing I think of is why? What do they've got what I don't have? Are they really that skinny? And why must everybody have a size 0? It's making me angry!
Even that one assignement that they've told me I've must loose 10kilo's! Are they sick in their mind? No wonder many girls have an eating dissorder!

And really with all the respect I had fun shooting but after all those years of trying I feel more unhappy then happy in that world. It's just not my kind of thing!
So NO I did not quit for my new boyfriend or my new job or for someone who told me to. I've quit for my own damn luck!
It's an interesting world and I really have met a lot of nice people! I want to thank you for that!

Now I will focus on my sweet hubby and my precious little girl. They are so important for me! I don't want to shoot any more it's just not feel right for me.
I focus on my blog. Working out, eat healthy, my lovely dogs and cats, friends and family!

I really don't care if people say I'm to fat, to musceled, to small or what ever. I am me and the only one person that must think I'm beautifull is my hubby.

fried Brussels sprouts

There is thunder and lightning today! My 3 dogs are  upset because of the thunder.
It's raining pretty hard... You can say summer is really over.
We've got a couple of great warm days last week but now it's time to get those warm sweaters out of you closet! Put some romantic candles on and make it cozy by yourself.

For me it's time to try something new. I've made fried Brussels sprouts! Don't yuch right away!
I know the most people don't like them. I love Brussels sprouts. Especially in my vegitables soup.
But I think everybody love them if you prepare them like this.
I saw people make them in a frying pan but that's not the way I want to make it. It must be healthy as possible!

You need:
Brusels sprouts
coconot oil
some sea salt

Wash the brussels sprouts, cut off the hard stump and cut the brussels sprouts in half!
Put in a wok the coconut oil.
When the oil is hot enough put the brussels sprouts in it and bake them.
Make sure they will be brown but not BLACK!!!
When they are brown you can take them out.
Hmmm only the smell makes me mouth watering...
Sprinkle them with some sea salt.

And voila you've got your brussels sprouts!
Most people like it more this way then boiled. So try it...

Getting back in shape

I've getting lot of questions why I look so "good"after giving birth.
Well I've got lucky I guess.
I've worked out my whole life (swim, fitness, running, kickboxing) so my abs are pretty hard when I was pregnant. I used to work out 4 till 5 times a week or more. I've used supplements from gymfood and I ate healthy as possible. But I must stop working out when I was pregnant.
I've got a very tiny belly during pregnancy. At 36 weeks people thought I was just 20 weeks. That's why I had so much pain during my pregnancy. I may not work out because of the pain and bleedings.
But instead of working out I ate healthy as possible. With a cheatmeal now and then ;). I've used special vitamins for pregnant woman and folic acid pills.

When my baby girl was born I was back to my normal weight again.
I gained less then 10 kilo's during my pregnancy.
So I must say I was very lucky.
My advice: Don't eat for two!!! Eat healthy, eat a varied diet and if you can work out!
Take special vitamins and folic acid pills for pregnant woman!

But now I'm almost 12 weeks further and now what?!
On the one hand I'm happy with my body that I don't have to loose more weight. I am happy with who I am now.
But on the other hand I want my toned body back!
In November we're going on vacation for the first time with my baby girl. And let's say I want to feel good...
I'm breast feeding my little girl  and it seems that you burn 500 calories more per day.
Well that's some positive news. But I don't want to loose weight I want to get toned!
I know I may not go on a diet because I breastfeed and this is NOT what I want to do.
From now on I will blog about my journey to get my toned body back.
Maybe I will not have it in November. But someday I will have my own old trusted body.
But I feel better when I work out and that's the most important reason!
I've want to run ones in a week. I started last Sunday, I've ran 3,42 km in: 26:56 minutes.
It's not that fast but my last run was in June 2013! So I'm proud of myself.
I've stared a couple of weeks ago with sit ups and I've take my weights from the basement and started to use them for my arms and abs work out.
I will do some exersices every day from now on!
But only some work outs does not mean you get your abs back!
I will start to eat more healthy then I allready did.
I will not eat less. I will eat more, spread on a day.
So I make sure my little one get enough also. I still take my vitamins for pregnant woman every day.
I'm NOT using extra supplements because of breastfeeding. I don't know if it's harmful to use them during breastfeeding. But I ate 6 eggs a week. (boiled or baked)
I make sure I get my veggies every day!
My favourites are baked bimi with spinach and some garlic.
And make sure you eat your fruits!!!
So I'm guessing I will post more recipes and more exersices to help you guys!

But the most important thing is be happy with youself! You are beautifull just the way you are...

Whats hot this fall in maternity fashion?!

Babies have skin hunger.....

Research shows that babies who have a lot physical contact are growing a lot better then babies who don't have physical contact.

New borns have needs of physical contact. They also call it skin hunger...
Mid-80s showed that at an American hospital: incubator babies who were not touched, remained far behind in growth. Babies whose every night have their back caressed, grew normally.

In the womb, babies are constantly touched and rocked. They have a 24 hours a day in contact with the body of their mother. They aren't hungry they don't feel pain. It's just a safe place for the baby.
And then there is the birth and the warm small hole digs for an immense world in which the child is often only sleeps, is in the box, sits in a rocking chair or lying in a stroller. The continuity theory suggests: Proceed with the cradles, touching and caressing. Carry your baby, let him sway you. After a month or 9 your child gives a sign that he wants to see the wide world, and he literally crawls away from you.

New research techniques like brain scans and measuring the stress hormone cortisol in the saliva of infants show how important physical contact is for the development of babies. And then there is not refers to the functional touch while changing and bathing: it means conscious, loving touches.
European research shows that babies who average nearly 10 hours per day had physical contact cried 50% less than babies who average had 8.5 hours per day contact.

In a friendly touch the 'cuddle hormone "oxytocin is released. Oxytocin causes we enter into relationships with others. It comes in large concentrations in the brains of mothers during and after childbirth, and ensures that they want continuously hold their baby and take care of them.

I love to carry my baby girl, and comfort her when she cries. But I can carry her for 10 hours.
And what about when I go to work after 3 months?
They don't carry my baby girl for 10 hours in a daycare?

But what I do is be with her when she needs me. Cuddle with her when she cries. Play with her when she is active, talk nice words to her when she's panic.
If she wants to sleep on me then I would let her sleep on me.
I just want to be there for her and show her that she don't need to worry, that the big bad world isn't that bad at all.
