Salmon and sweet patatoes

I've made this dinner a couple of weeks ago.
I just feel like eating salmon and salicornia.
So I have made this dish:

What you need:

Sweet patatoes in pieces.
salicornia
salmon
lime
salt and pepper.

Cook the sweet patatoes until they are done.
I wrapped the salmon in aluminum foil and added some lime juice and pepper and salt on it.
I put this in the oven (200 degrees) for 15 a 20 minutes.
I've cooked the salicornia for 5 minutes.
I topped the salmon of with some basil from our own yard and a slice of lime.
A lovely dinner like you are at see ;)

fast moussaka with salmon

I just love that. So I want to try to make one of my own and use salmon with it instead of meatloaf.
I hope you like this recipe.

What you'll need:

600 g of potatoes
2 eggplants
olive oil for frying
0.5 bunch dill
40g butter
50 g flour
400 ml of water
1 vegetable stock cube
200 ml mascarpone
100g grated cheese
200 g of salmon

Bring a pan of water and a little salt to the boil.
Peel and cut the potatoes into thin slices. Boil the potatoes in about 6 minutes

Preheat the oven on 200 degrees.
Cut the eggplant into slices.
Heat a little oil in a frying pan and fry the aubergines over and over in about 6 minutes.
Chop the dill.
Melt for the roux the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour and cook about 1 minute.
Add the water with it while you stirr.
Add the vegetable stock cube. Bring to the boil and cook the roux for about 5 minutes until a thick sauce. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the mascarpone, dill and the half of the grated cheese into the sauce.
Spread half the potatoes, half the eggplant, and half of the salmon on a greased baking dish.
Pour half of the sauce and repeat the operations in the same order. Finish with the remaining grated cheese.
Bake the moussaka with salmon in the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown.

Maternity fashion myths

Well I know that I'm not pregnant any more.
But I still wanted to write an article about maternity fashion myths.
There are a lots of do's and dont's to wear your clothing during pregnancy.
Well in my opinion I think you must wear what you like and if you feel comfortable in it why not?
Why must you wear a dress with a belt on it? Why can't you wear bold prints?
Why must you buy an whole new wardrobe with clothing you don't like just because you are pregnant?
Just feel and be happy in what you wear. Your body, your baby, your rules!

That you must give up your own style is the biggest sin ever!
You've got lot's of materinty clothing in the latest trends. And todays maternity clothing are clothing that fits your figure well in the newest trends.

Like me: I love boyfriend jeans.
Sow why don't wear them? You've got a lot of choices to wear during your pregnancy.
Look for clothes that you want and need, and do not buy something unless you feel confident and beautiful wearing it.

Well I've told you I love to wear boyfriend jeans. Well that goes to the next myth. Never wear jeans!
Why stuck with dresses and leggings during pregnancy while there are a lot of great and beautifull maternity jeans! Well I must admit that it was hard to find a good pair of maternity jeans.
But if you find them yhen you feel beautiful and great.
Here are my 2 jeans I've bought during my pregnancy.

The big cover up. And specially during summer time. Why wear long pants or dresses to cover up your swollen ankles? It's summer.....
So why can't you enjoy it? Just wear your sandals and flip flops with pride.

How many times do you hear that if you are pregnant you must wear plain colors, small prints and just say no to stripes? Well in my other article: here you can read that stripes are the new trend in maternity clothing! Prints and stripes can be very flattering over the bump.

Black is an easy color to wear during pregnancy. But why wear dark colors? Or is there a goth that comes out of you? No, you are pregnant, you are beautiful. You can wear what you want even pastel colors, Don't say no to light colors. And ofcourse you can wear dark colors but not 9 months long.

So what I want to say is: Every mommy to be must feel and be beautifull and enjoy pregnancy (even if it's hard sometimes, I know that). Just love the way you look and feel comfortable in what you wear: if it's a pair of yoga pants or a beautiful dress. If you are comfortable in it and you are happy that's all that matters!
The most important thing is just focus on your baby.

my baby girl first photoshoot

All pictures on this page are property of First edition photography.

Yesterday my babygirl had her newborn shoot. In this blogpost I have told you a little bit about newborn photography.
A friend of mine is a newborn photographer and she made the beautiful pictures of her. Now I have seen how she works I can tell you a little bit more about it.
At first editions photography you get for a newborn photoshoot:
  • 10 digital photos in high resolution on CD without logo
  • Photoshoot at home (always in the morning)
  • Duration of the shoot is 120-240 minutes
  • Pre-selection of backgrounds and props with advice
  • Within 7 days you will receive an online web album to choose the photos themselves
  • Beautiful photos of the family included

Jackie is owner of first edition photography. She's 21 years old and is since 2012 a recognized photographer. Through her training as a Nurturing / maternity assistance she has a lot of experience and knowledge of newborn babies. What interests her most at this moment are Newborn Photography & Wedding Photography. In addition to her photography work, she also works as a volunteer for the Foundation Early Birds photography. Within the foundation she photographs premature babies who are still in the hospital. In this way, parents can close a hard time and look back at the photo's of this time.

I know Jackie a couple of years now so that's why I trust her to make these pictures. And well if you see her work..... She makes amazing pictures!!!She works with care and patience and she's knows what she is doing.
At first my baby girl gets a nice wam bath and after that I wrapped her in and feed her. So she fell in sleep. Meanwhile, Jackie put all the stuff on. If my girl sleeps she goes to work.
There's always one person who looks an eye on your little baby girl. Maybe it's you or the maternity assistant. This time it was both haha.
The maternity assistant knows jackie also from other families.
Step by step Jackie works with different settings and attributes.
I was so proud at my little baby girl. She keep sleeping all the time.

If you want to work with first edition photography it's very important if you want a newborn shoot to book it while you are pregnant! If you do this when the little one is born it's possible that she has no place for a photoshoot any more. The photo session will take place until 15 days after birth. Well only I can say jackie is fun to work with.
If you want more information about first edition photography look at her website or follow her on facebook .

Posting a photo of your new born on social media: Do's or Don't ?

Congratulations you are a parent now! A special chapter in your life is about to begin. And everybody may know that. Euhm wait.... everybody? Well research shows that in less than an hour 62% of the parents post a photo of their newborn on social media. 22% is family and 16% are their friends.
Sharing your pregnancy on facebook is such a normal thing this time of the year. If you want to know if someone is pregnant just find out on facebook. Do you want to know how the babies room looks like just find out online.

Why do we share such an intimate thing to the whole world? Well it's started when baby George was born. And then it was an hype to share your newborn to the world.
But why do we do that?
The reason couples do this is because they can show it to family members and friends a lot easier who lives far away. But even casual acquaintances are aware of the birth of your child immediately. Couples say that they think it's a lot easier to share this all in ones. And people who aren't that close can see a picture of their newborn also.

As a new parent you want to show to the world how beautifull your little baby is. You are happy and full of joy.
But don't upload a picture daily (enjoy eachother)
Send a much intimate picture to your family through whats app or e-mail and not on facebook or instagram.
Think before you post a picture online. You do not want to get a picture under your nose getting birth at a job interview.
Talk to your family and friends if you don't want them to post pictures of your baby online. Just be honest to them.
You can also post a detail. A photo of a foot or hand. So everybody nows your baby is born but it's still a suprise!
And at last something about newborn photoshoots.
It's a trend to make pictures of your baby in special poses. And let's be honest is looks adorable.
But be carefull with who you work with.
Make sure they have the full experience. That they know what they are doing with your newborn, that everything is safe.
Make sure they are using props who are soft and not sharp. It must be safe for your baby they must don't get hurt.
Make sure they will support the babies head because the head is heavy and they can't lift their head.

Just do reasearch before you work with a photographer. It's a special moment for you.
For the dutchies out here I know an amazing photographer who is really great with newborn photography: first edition photography

Further I want to say enjoy your parenting.
Enjoy the times with your little one and your family time.
My time must start... and it will be... very soon. I can't wait to hold the little one in to my arms.
But I wont post a picture of my newborn on facebook.
The most important people get a card from us. And facebook members will see the baby when I feel like it to post something.
I even did not post a photo of the sonogram that we are expecting a baby. They find it out with little quotes or sometimes I post a status with a hospital visit in it.
I don't want to have 100 likes or comments on the photo. They will find it out when I feel like it. haha
But that is a choice what everybody must make of their own.

What would you do? Will you post a photo of your new born online?

Johnny cakes

WOW I've found an such easy recipe. An Antillean a recipe: Johnny cakes.
It's looks like little breadballs and you can fill them with everything you like.
Only you must frie them. So it's not 100% healthy.
But this is how I make them.

What you'll need:

1 pound of spelled flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp grape sugar
200 ml of water
flaxseed oil for frying

Mix all the dry ingridients together with a spoon. Add the water to it and knead into a dough.
Let it rest for 15 minutes.

Make little balls of the dough en squeeze it flat, so you get a little cookie form.
Heat the oil on 170 degrees and fry them till they are brown.

Let them cool down and you can stuff them with everything you like!
